Frequently Asked Questions — BOM AI

100% free. No membership fees, no ads, no data selling, no credit card required, and unlimited usage. Free forever. BOM AI is a free project so every Thai person can have their own private AI

The program runs entirely on your computer. It never sends your chats, images or files anywhere, and there is no user account to register — so there is no server-side data of yours to leak. During install, Windows may show a SmartScreen notice, which is normal for new programs. You can verify the file with the SHA-256 value shown on the download page

Only for the first download and installation. After that, BOM AI works fully offline

Yes. Windows, Mac and Linux are all supported. Any computer with 8 GB RAM can run Gemma-3 4B or the CPU-only Typhoon 2-5 and Chinda; a 10-16 GB GPU unlocks MiMo 9B and the champion GLM-4.7 12B; a 24 GB+ GPU unlocks 709-L 27B for deep analysis. You choose the model yourself in the app - see the download page for how to check your hardware

Not in this version. BOM AI is designed primarily for Windows, Mac and Linux computers

ChatGPT runs on a company server, requires an account and a constant internet connection. BOM AI runs on your own computer — no sign-up, works offline, free without limits, and your data never leaves your machine. The trade-off: BOM AI uses smaller models, so it is not on the level of GPT-4 class ChatGPT, but it is enough for daily work and is more private and secure

Nowhere. All chats, images and files are stored only on your computer. You can delete everything at any time — there is no copy anywhere else

Not necessary, but having one makes responses much faster. BOM AI detects your GPU automatically. If your machine has no GPU, it uses the CPU instead — slower, but every feature still works

There are 6 models. Three run on CPU alone (Gemma-3 4B, Typhoon 2-5, Chinda), while MiMo 9B, GLM-4.7 12B and 709-L 27B deliver their best speed with a GPU. You pick the model yourself in the app based on your hardware. See the features page for the full comparison and benchmark scores

Yes. Gemma-3 4B, MiMo 9B and GLM-4.7 12B all have Vision. Send a photo of a document, sign, receipt or screen and BOM AI will read and explain it

Open the app and press "Check for updates". The system downloads only the changed parts — no reinstall needed, and your old chats stay intact
